Interactive ghost walk at Basingwerk Abbey

Take an interactive ghost walk with us around Basingwerk Abbey, Greenfield. Founded in 1132 by Ranulf de Gernon, the 4th Earl of Chester. Who had already brought Benedictine monks all the way from Sevigny Abbey in Southern Normandy. In 1147 the Abbey became part of the Cisterian order.

On our walk, you will hear about the connections the Abbey had with the local areas. Hear about its connections to war and the monks before the dissolution in 1536 during Henry VIIIs reign.

Steeped in history and legends and in its hay day it held power and high connections to many a Welsh Prince. Hear of a legend that dates back to the 12th century that left the Abbey in ruins and more.

The abbey ruins have a rich and varied history. which still remains trapped in the very fabric of the Abbey ruins and grounds.

The abbey has different foreboding atmosphere when the night creeps in. Which makes for a great setting for a ghost hunt. Delve into hundreds of years worth of energy connected to the memories of bygone times. Join in and see if we can encourage spirits to ring the once present bells. Or will we hear the chilling sound of a choir during our time there?

Join our team for an amazing interactive journey back through time. While we are there, become the ghost hunter and participate in experiments to contact the ghostly spectres that we know continue to roam there.

We will be meeting outside the visitors centre at 7.30pm for an 8pm start and will take roughly an two hours. Please wear sensible shoes and dress for the weather as there is no cover at the Abbey. Please bring a torch and bring your own refreshments.

The experiments held on the night are to be seen a entertainment only. We will do not expect anyone to take part in any experiments they do not feel comfortable with.

This event is open to over 18 years olds only.

Anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave and no refunds will be given.

Ghost Hunters UK will not be held liable for any loss or damage of any equipment that members of the public bring along on the night.
